Texas · Websites and web apps for small businesses in all 50 states
Websites and web apps, cut by hand.
I build the site or the system your business actually needs: a booking page a customer can use at 9 PM, a site your Spanish-speaking customers can read too, or a full app that runs your day. Fixed price, your name on the domain, and someone who keeps it running after launch.
- Fixed quotes, no hourly surprises
- 50% to start, 50% at launch
- 30-day fix-it warranty
- All 50 states, fully remote
Systems I've built
Real pages you can tap through
Each one is a working site, not a mockup. Three are fictional businesses built to show what your site could do; the fourth is this one.
What I build
Pick the size of the job
Every build includes a fixed quote after a 20-minute call, two revision rounds, launch on your own domain and hosting in your name, and a 30-day warranty on anything I wrote.
Starting prices for a typical small business. Your quote is fixed before any money changes hands. Texas clients: state sales tax is added as the law requires. Languages other than English and Spanish: I don’t translate, but I’ll build the switch and add your translated text when you have it.
Care Plans
I keep the light on after launch
A website quietly breaks: a certificate expires, a form stops sending, a price changes. A Care Plan means one person who already knows your site watches it, updates it, and handles your changes on a set turnaround instead of whenever you can find someone.
Month to month. Cancel any time with 30 days' notice. Plan members get 10% off larger projects.
What each item means, in plain language
- Uptime monitoring and alerts
- A service checks that your site loads every five minutes, around the clock. If it goes down, I get an alert within minutes and start looking before you or your customers notice.
- Weekly backups, kept 30 days
- Once a week a complete copy of your site (and its data, if it has bookings or accounts) is saved somewhere separate. If anything is lost or broken, I can put back last week's version. Copies older than 30 days are deleted.
- Monthly security updates
- Websites run on software that gets patched when weaknesses are found. Once a month I apply those patches and click through your key pages to make sure nothing changed.
- Domain, SSL, and hosting renewals watched
- Your web address, the padlock certificate that makes it "https", and the hosting all expire on different dates. I keep the calendar and warn you 30 days ahead so your site never disappears over a missed renewal.
- Monthly health report
- A short email once a month: was the site up, what I updated, what changed, and anything coming up. Proof that someone is actually watching.
- Hours of edits
- Changes you ask for: new hours, a new menu, a price, a photo, a staff bio, a new page section. Keep It Fresh includes one hour a month; Keep It Growing includes three and can cover small new features. Unused hours don't roll over.
- Reply within 1 business day / same-day reply
- How fast you hear back from me when you write, not how fast the work is finished. Every request gets a reply with a plan and a date before I start.
- Email and text support
- You can text or email me directly with a question or a change, with a photo or screenshot if it helps. No ticket portal, no "submit a form and wait."
- Spanish updates included
- If your site is in English and Spanish, every change is made in both at once, so the versions never drift apart. For other languages, send me the translated text and I add it in; translation itself isn't something I provide.
- Critical patches same week
- If something is actually broken (form not sending, booking not saving, page erroring) it is fixed within the same week, ahead of any cosmetic changes.
- Monthly 15-minute call
- A short scheduled call to go over what the site did this month and what you want next. Optional; skip it when there's nothing to discuss.
- Traffic and lead summary
- How many people visited, which pages they looked at, and how many filled a form or booked, in plain numbers, without a cookie banner on your site.
- Changes quoted / extra work rates
- Anything beyond the plan's included hours is quoted before I touch it, at the hourly rate shown on your plan. Larger projects get a fixed price and 10% off for plan members.
How a build goes
Six steps, no mystery
You always know what happens next and what it costs. Every quote comes with its own schedule: a simple site is quicker, an app with bookings or accounts takes longer, and either way the dates are written in the agreement.

About
One builder, hand tools and modern ones
Obsidian Hewn is a one-person studio in Texas. Obsidian is the volcanic glass my ancestors worked by hand for generations; hewn is the word for something shaped by a steady hand, not poured from a mold. That's how I work: one job at a time, every page tested on a real phone before you see it.
I build with AI-assisted tools, which is why a solo studio can deliver a real app, not just a brochure. I built and still run software of my own before building for anyone else, so I know what it takes to keep a system working after launch day.
I speak English and Spanish, so a bilingual site is written in-house, not run through a translator. Other languages are built in from text you provide.
Before I built software I spent ten years on the other side of the counter: call-center agent, then supervisor and quality analyst, then manager of a retail shop and a fine-dining restaurant, with a stretch running the dispatch board for an HVAC company. I know what a missed call costs, what a bad schedule does to a crew, and what a customer means when they say “it’s not working.” That experience goes into every build: I look after two people at once, your customer, who should find the site easy and welcoming, and you, who should feel a little lighter for having it. You get a site that saves you calls instead of creating them, and one you can run yourself without a programmer on standby.
